Rebecca
Ridgway was
destined to lead a life of adventure being the daughter of John
and Marie Christine Ridgway. In 1992 she became the first woman
to kayak round the legendary Cape Horn.

She
worked with her parents at their internationally acclaimed adventure
school for 10 years. During winter months her spirit of adventure
led her to explore the Peruvian Andes, the Atlas Mountains in
Morocco, travel through New Zealand, sail to Greenland, as well
as, running the New York and London Marathons. |
She spent 18 months
sailing across the Atlantic, Pacific and icy Southern Ocean to
Antarctica.
Rebecca has worked with youth development charity Raleigh International
in London and as a volunteer Project Manager in Oman.
She has written 2 books: Something Amazing, published '93
by Hodder & Stoughton, and Then We Sailed Away, published
'96 by Little, Brown & Co. and been the subject of several
television films. 'First Lady of Cape Horn' '93 Survival Anglia
and 'Wilderness Walks' '98 Triple Echo.

Will
Burchnall is
co-founder and owner of Cape Adventure International with his wife
Rebecca Ridgway. In
1992 he took a break from city life, where he had worked for 7 years
as a money broker, to pursue other interests.
This led him to the
John Ridgway Adventure School at Ardmore where he worked as a seasonal
instructor. He returned in the following year as Chief Instructor
and continued to work at Ardmore until 1997.

In 1993 Will spent a year, with
the Ridgway family sailing from Ardmore to southern Chile via the
Galapagos Archipelago and French Polynesia. Then in 1999 Will and
Rebecca successfully circumnavigated the remote Musandam Peninsula
in northern Oman by sea kayak.
Will and Rebecca live at Ardmore throughout the year with
their two children Molly and Hughie. They established Cape Adventure
International in 2000 and continually develop their holidays / courses
offering a true sense of adventure and fun while retaining the personal
and family touches.
