Family holiday:

Just a quick note to thank you and all the team at Cape Adventure for such an enjoyable holiday. The boys and I thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and I never thought I would ever see Theo swimming at 8am in a sea loch! The mix of activities, the food and the accommodation as well as a highly professional team makes for a great product and I hope it goes from strength to strength.

Thank you for a lovely week - we had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the activities, location, food, other guests, staff and, luckily the weather. I honestly did not think Justin at 9 years old would be skipping up Ben Stack catching frogs with his new friend Lena - not even noticing the steepness and length of the climb. George and my favourite part was the kayaking, Justin's the rock climbing and, I believe, Jonathan's the walking.

"We have had a few days back home after our time at Cape Adventure. We all had an excellent time and wanted to thank you and the team for making it such a special holiday. The children have continued to recount the details of their time on Survival Island - clearly their favourite part of the week. We think the whole week was excellently put together, with a good balance of activities appealing to and taxing both the adults and children. The approach from the instructors combined good humour and encouragement with clear skill and experience. We felt in safe hands at all times, especially with regard to the children. We think that the children have gained a huge amount from the holiday, their "best ever". We were enchanted by the beauty of the area and felt the facilities and food to be excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."

Sea Kayaking

We had an absolutely fabulous time at Cape Venture. I'm pining to get back on the water! After the first day, my shoulders didn't trouble me at all. Both of us had such a great time, and the instructors, Mark and Graeme, were really good - helpful, patient and extremely tolerant (they needed to be!) Thank you for making us so welcome. I'm looking forward to a return visit.

Wow - what a great week! For me, you achieved the perfect balance: A sufficiently challenging week of acquiring a great new skill, supported by some very important creature comforts; superb attention to detail, a comfortable bed, an efficient means of drying kit, and also some good mental stimulation along the way. As someone who is as interested in consuming calories as expending them, Brigitte’s contribution to the week was significant - I am sure that having a kitchen with what must be one of the best views in the country must also help! Thank you all for making it a brilliant week, way beyond expectations; it was an absolute pleasure to be amongst you.

The accommodation and housekeeping were just right - and Brigitte's food utterly wonderful. Eating mussels picked 10 yards from the cooker is something else! I really appreciated your "style" of delivery of the teaching and the opportunity you created for the experience of journeying, and learning techniques by having to use them. I always felt safe (though not always sure I'd stay upright!) and nevertheless felt challenged and excited – I learned and did more than I expected to and got a real taste of (& for) the real thing. Somewhat "indifferent" weather actually gave us a chance from day one to feel and see some movement on the water and to get to grips with that. The evening talks were great too - extended our awareness to the landscape we were in and to the bigger world of kayak expeditions. "Staff" all delightful, welcoming, friendly supportive - especially those two lovely lads!

14 day Summer Camp Expedition

Thank you so very much for providing such a wonderful two-week outdoor adventure for my daughter Erica. She really enjoyed the support and fun from her instructors, her fellow campers, all the exciting challenges, your facilities, and the Scottish highlands. She especially liked the sea kayak outing and making new friends from across the ocean. Even the difficult challenges like hiking over rough terrain with a loaded backpack became memorable accomplishments. She came home in excellent physical shape and good spirits. As an anxious parent, you assuaged all my concerns before and during camp, so that I felt confident that through your experience, personality, and responsiveness Erica would have a safe, fun, positive, and memorable vacation. On a personal note, her time at Cape Adventure was a truly big and needed plus for the year.

I just wanted to let you know that Holly thoroughly enjoyed her two weeks with you. She gave a good account of her time there when asked about it on her return. I am sure keeping a diary had helped her to recall and tell us what she'd been doing. It was a delight to hear her actually speak out about it all in front of us. It was good that she achieved an award with the John Muir Trust while she was with you with the potential for further input that that brings. She says she feels stronger physically which, she says, will stand her in good stead back at school. She has met new friends to add to the growing circuit of contacts. And above all she looked relaxed and healthy, and more confident. What more could one want?
